GET TO KNOW: THE THREE BEST COFFEES ON WEST 3RD STREET
Fancy yourself a coffee connoisseur here in Los Angeles? Make a trip down to West 3rd Street to try these three unique coffees from three of our favorite coffee spots in the city…
1. 1950 BLEND – VERVE COFFEE ROASTERS
The 1950 Blend is made up of heirloom, varietal coffees from the birthplace of coffee: Ethiopia. Its complex and spiced flavor bring us back to days of old. In the cup, floral jasmine, lemongrass and a dense sweetness emerge balanced with a complex and spiced, weighty body.
2. CAFFE LUXXE BLEND – LITTLE NEXT DOOR
Enjoying a coffee with your French pastries at Little Next Door, or post-dinner at The Little Door? Their coffee provider and roaster is Caffe Luxxe, using a blend of three beans from Africa, South America and Indonesia. The coffee is bold and buttery, with hits of dark chocolate, caramel and jasmine. Have the coffee as an espresso or ask for it cold-brew style.
3. TURKISH COFFEE – MAMA’S SECRET
Enjoy a classic Turkish coffee at Mama’s Secret. The bold, complex coffee is simmered to perfection, then served in a cup and saucer and with a piece of Turkish delight. Traditionally, the coffee grounds that settle at the bottom of the cup can also be used to tell your fortune. Swirl the cup and then tip it over. Turn the cup back to reveal what’s left. The more coffee grinds that fall out, the more your worries and fears will leave you. Then, find an expert to interpret the pattern formed by the remaining coffee grinds in your cup. Depending on the pattern, it can mean everything from long life and prosperity, to a cloudy future.
